Lantern Log #8 — Music of the BADLVCK-Verse

Stories are not always told with words.

Sometimes they appear as images, fragments of ideas, or moments that feel too atmospheric to exist only on the page. From the very beginning of BADLVCK Press, it felt natural that the worlds being built here would eventually reach beyond books alone.

That is where the music began.

The BADLVCK music project exists as another doorway into the same creative universe that the stories explore. While the books follow characters travelling through fractured realms and strange systems, the music focuses more on the emotion and atmosphere surrounding those worlds.

What does a broken realm feel like?

What might the sound of ancient forces or forgotten systems be?

How would a journey across strange landscapes echo if it could be heard instead of seen?

These questions slowly shaped the musical side of the BADLVCK-Verse.

Some pieces are cinematic and atmospheric, designed to feel like the sound of a distant world unfolding. Others experiment with different styles and textures, reflecting the strange mixture of ideas that run through the wider universe.

Rather than existing separately from the stories, the music acts more like a companion to them—another way of exploring the same themes of chance, strange forces, fractured realities, and quiet mysteries.

In many ways, the BADLVCK-Verse is not meant to exist in only one medium.

It grows through books, music, artwork, and fragments of ideas that slowly reveal different pieces of the same larger universe.

The Lantern Logs themselves are part of that process, small dispatches documenting the journey as it unfolds.

And as the worlds continue to expand, the music will continue to evolve alongside them.

After all, some stories are meant to be heard as much as they are meant to be read.
