THE LAWS
BEFORE WORLDS LEARNED THEIR NAMES,
THE RULES WERE ALREADY THERE.
They are not gods.
Gods belong to worlds.
The Laws belong to something older.
They do not govern existence.
They are the conditions by which existence is permitted to occur.
Chance. Symmetry. Silence. Decay. Hunger.
Not ideas.
Laws.
Every world exists beneath them.
Whether that world knows it or not.

THE LAWS
REALITY HAS RULES. SOME OF THEM WALK.
Across the countless realms, gods have been worshipped, monsters have been feared and civilisations have built entire religions around things they could not understand.
The Laws are something else.
A Law does not rule over its principle.
It is that principle given presence.
Hvngering does not create hunger. Hunger exists because the possibility of wanting more is written into reality itself. ΣYMM does not impose symmetry upon creation. It is the inevitability that things may be made equal. Decay does not choose what must rot. It exists wherever continuation eventually gives way to collapse.
They are not creators of these conditions.
They are their consequence.
WHY DO THEY EXIST?
No surviving doctrine agrees upon an origin.
Perhaps the Laws came first.
Perhaps existence produced them.
Perhaps asking which came first misunderstands both.
What is known is that reality cannot exist without rules, and wherever realities multiply, those rules repeat.
Worlds may differ beyond recognition. Their gods may have different names. Their people may never know that another realm exists.
The Laws remain.
That is why traces of the same entities, symbols and consequences can surface across stories separated by worlds, centuries and realities.
They are one of the threads connecting the BADLVCKVerse.
DO THEY THINK?
Unfortunately.
The Laws possess form. Preference. Memory. Curiosity.
Some wander.
Some interfere.
Some merely observe.
And although a Law may appear as something resembling a person, creature or god, the shape should never be mistaken for the thing itself.
Destroying a manifestation of Decay would not remove decay from existence.
You cannot kill a rule by breaking the shape it chose to wear.
ARE THEY GOOD?
No.
They are not evil either.
Those are judgements made by creatures living beneath them.
A Law may save a civilisation and destroy another through precisely the same act. What appears miraculous from one side of an event may appear monstrous from the other.
There are no right outcomes.
Only interesting ones.
AND THERE ARE OTHERS.
Some Laws are known.
Some have been forgotten.
Some have names that cannot survive translation between realms.
Others are recognised only by what begins happening when they draw near.
The records contained within Wisker's Whispers are incomplete.
That may be fortunate.
