Lantern Log #16—The Lantern Still Burns
It's been a little while since our last Lantern Log, and while things may have seemed quiet from the outside, behind the scenes BADLVCK Press has been anything but.
The biggest milestone is now almost here.
The Broken Song, the second novel in the Shadows and Strangers series, is now in its final stages and is due for release on 26 July. After a longer journey than originally expected, we're incredibly excited to finally share the next chapter of Maxen's story. The book is now available to pre-order on Amazon, and to celebrate its release we're also offering signed editions of The Fractured Path for just £6.99 through the BADLVCK Press website.
Beyond the books, we've been quietly rebuilding BADLVCK Press itself.
The website is gradually being redesigned using our own artwork throughout, while the BADLVCK Archive continues to grow into something much more than a traditional author website. Rather than simply listing books, we want it to become a place to explore the wider universe… a living archive where new lore, recovered fragments, strange systems, and hidden details slowly appear over time. The deeper you look, the more you'll find.
Work also continues on our next major novel, The Law of Storms.
Set in another corner of the BADLVCK-Verse, it follows Llyrion, a young boy whose journey begins the when he dons a mask in a world where the Laws are no longer distant ideas, but visible forces shaping everyday life. The manuscript is currently in its final editing stages, with release planned for later this year.
Alongside that, development is ongoing on another project: BADLVCK'S Almost Adventurers. It's still far too early to reveal much, but we'll be sharing more as it continues to take shape.
The RXLICS Archive also continues to expand, with new apparel and recovered fragments regularly finding their way into the collection. More and more, it feels less like merchandise and more like pieces of the worlds themselves.
For those following the musical side of BADLVCK, expect more ambient pieces inspired by scenes from The Broken Song in the near future, continuing to explore the atmosphere of the fractured realms through sound.
And, as always...
There are countless other projects quietly taking shape behind the scenes. Some may not see the light for years. Others are much closer than they appear. We often joke that we spread ourselves far too thin, but the truth is, we simply love creating and can’t stop. Every new idea becomes another path to explore, another fragment of the universe waiting to be uncovered.
The archive keeps growing.
The lantern remains lit.
